It’s just not fun gameplay.

White = Kor, Blue = Vedalken, Black = Aetherborn, Red = Viashino, Green = ????

Nantuko.

If/when another mono green dragon?

There will be one when we do another cycle of monocolor Dragons. We do them about once a decade.

How soon can we see again a non-evergreen, non-deciduous mechanic after it has just been printed in a set?

What’s the fastest turn-around? Three to four years, I think, and that’s with a very popular, deep mechanic.

Something I found in the Making Magic archive from way back when I started playing: “Rule #1 – No Land Can Be ‘Strictly Better’ Than a Basic Land”. Unless I missed something, this rule held for a long time until the Pathways showed up. What changed?

We decided that not having a basic land type (and not being a basic land) was enough to make it not “strictly better”. I will admit, that this is us pushing this rule more than we have in the past. If this experiment doesn’t work, we might not push in this way again.

was it intentional to release eldrine and theros beyond death (two monocolor-themed sets) so close together? how about the monocolor themes of standard 2021?

It was intentional, yes. We purposefully run mechanical themes through consecutive sets.

You said that you discovered in OG Theros that Legendary Enchantment Creature – God just barely fit. But in TBD, cards like Daxos have a longer creature type, adding Demi to the type line. What changed?

We shrunk the font beyond our normal limit.

Hey Mark. I would like to ask for Non-Anthropomorphic Planeswalkers.

All the humans are non anthropomorphic. : )
The planeswalkers serve as player analogues so it’s harder to move away from humanoids. We have a few, but they’re always going to be the exception.
Legendary creatures, in contrast, are a great place to do nonanthromorphic characters and we do a lot of them there.

Can I get a maybe on an enchantment that brings back manaburn?….or an instant?…I don’t like players that make infinite mana.

Maybe. : )

”There are not a lot of non-class creature types that have appeared on monocolor cards of every color.” Just of the top some that have appeared as monocolor cards in every color (in cycles) are Spirit, Avatar, Incarnation, Bringer, God, Demigod, Shapeshifter, and Kirin. Also Human of course.
